Biography

Ravnish is an interdisciplinary content creator. She has always had a passion to create and explore innovative sectors. Ravnish fostered her passion for writing and design at the University of Waterloo. This is where she advanced her skills in digital media. Throughout her Undergraduate career, she continuously facilitated term projects through interactive designs. She enrolled in courses that theoretically examined media, professional communication, rhetoric, gender studies, and race and reproduced her knowledge on these courses through websites, infographics, and videos. Ravnish’s passion lies in creating digital resistance and showcasing community voices through digital organizations in the Greater Toronto Area. 

As a first-generation Punjabi woman, Ravnish’s relationship with digital media extends into purposeful direct action. She utilizes digital platforms as advanced tools which can interlock creativity and expression with sharing knowledge of her heritage and layering intersections of her identity. 

Why Digital Media?

I thoroughly enjoy integrating my development of fashion into digital design. This stems from creating clothing print designs, and digitally marketing these pieces. In 2016, I co-found and established a gender-neutral clothing brand called Roha (RuvLuv Designs). This was a foundational step in my professional career towards pushing for individuality and creativity using digital spaces from design development, entrepreneurship, and brand marketing. This passion ultimately extended into academic spaces and shifted how I use digital media to bind both creative and professional work. I want to be able to make a continuous impact in the digital world and establish a foundation for creators to follow.This will grant me the opportunity to demonstrate my current knowledge of the industry

Digital media will allow me to engage both my knowledge and experiences to bring forth my ideas to fruition. Specifically, in the realms of creative strategy and media aggregation all while continuing my passion for web design, e-commerce, and transmedia storytelling. The transdisciplinary nature of digital media will provide me the ability to connect with creators who are future-driven and seek like-minded challenges in content creation.
