Biography
Kathy's curiosity about human behaviors, modern technologies, and their collective influences on sculpting our societies has driven her to complete many speculative projects. She recognizes intricate human emotions as significant factors in defining our world, thus she focuses on depicting and materializing them through creative storytelling and design. Over the years, these beliefs have been the main forces in shaping her current emotionally-dense creative style, which she hopes to continue refining as she moves forward in her educational and professional path.
With an undergraduate degree in architecture and a specialization in technology, Kathy has experimented extensively with different applications of digital tools. During her personal time, she enjoys expressing herself through writing novels, singing, and drawing. These experiences with different creative practices, combined with solid technical skills, make Kathy an interdisciplinary designer capable of smoothly translating between abstract ideas and concrete solutions.
Why Digital Media?
I decided to pursue a Master of Digital Media because it aligns with my interest in ways of implementing digital technologies to enhance human experiences. Digitalization is occurring in every industry, and it is necessary to understand these forces that have already been reshaping our society. Through the MDM program, I wish to be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for becoming an entrepreneur in the digital age, as well as connect and collaborate with other ambitious, innovative individuals.
Major Research Paper
Exploring the Uses of Interactive Holograms in Live Entertainment
The entertainment industry has always been at the forefront of technological innovation while it constantly redefines its creative boundaries. The introduction of interactive digital technologies brings exciting possibilities into the field, particularly in live performances. This project studies holography as a critical technology that sets trends in future live event design due to its unique characteristics and deeper philosophical implications. The research will raise insightful questions on the significance of using holographic technology for entertainment and illustrate possible effects it could achieve through a variety of visual and experiential prototypes. As part of the final product, a systematic workflow will be presented in the form of infographics that guide designers and content creators through a seamless process of incorporating holograms into their live events programming.
