Major Research Paper
Heritage assets, such as historic buildings and archaeological sites, are prone to the cycle of changes, threatened by man-made and natural hazards. As such, resilient policies, which minimize the period of recovery/restoration, after the loss of heritage assets, are often based on the digitization of cultural goods. However, due to inadequate funding, lack of specialized personnel, and time constraints, the likelihood of such recovery measures has been limited. Supported by the case study research model, this research aims to minimize the effects of such limitations by constructing a conceptual model of a 4D decentralized spatiotemporal Mirror World. The platform allows for global collaboration in digitizing the past, present, and future of our urban environment through personally owned mass media devices. By incorporating NFT-based mechanisms, such as ownership and play-to-earn, contributors will remain as the sole creator of the submitted photo/data while potentially generating forms of profit through gamified contributions.

Biography
Alice Yu-Chen Chien graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in Interior Design. Throughout her years at Ryerson, she has developed an interest in exploring human behavior through methods of communication, design, and technology. In relation to her journey, she began to immerse herself in developing the techniques of scale model-making as a way of thinking, forming, and communicating, while investigating the process through exploring techniques of digital fabrication and analysis of material behavior. Upon graduation, she was given the opportunity to produce a design installation with the support of the Yabu Pushelberg Award for Innovation in Interior Design, alongside the consultation of the Ryerson Design Fabrication Zone. Currently, she is exploring the interaction between digital and reality, as well as the ways that technology influences human behavior.
Why Digital Media?
The MDM program allows for limitless explorations in regards to the impact between emerging technologies and human behavior. By combining previous experiences with the adventures throughout the program, the goal is to carry on with creativity and innovation while recognizing that the realm has infinite possibilities.
