Biography:
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Photography at Sheridan College in May of 2019. During my time at Sheridan I focused on not just architectural photography but also production and the user experience design of photography installations. This led me to planning the logistics of the year end graduation photography showcase. My undergraduate thesis focused on photographing architectural structures in their most bare form, whilst experimenting with metallic and cloth prints to study the way printed materials affected interpretation. I was later asked to use this project and represent Sheridan at the annual BMO First Art Contest. During my final two years at Sheridan I realized that my interests went far beyond freelance Photography. I took an interest in video editing, photoshoot production and curating. During my third year I took an internship at FASHION Magazine under the photo editor, where I discovered a passion for Art direction and since have been the creative director on various photographic projects.
Outside of the classroom, I run my own freelance photography business, teach photography studio practices and do freelance video editing. In the future I hope to keep creating digital products that give audiences a whole new way of experiencing photography and film which will ultimately lead me to the privilege of teaching these practices to future generations.
Why Digital Media?
The digital media industry is changing every day as new technological advances give us the opportunity to tell stories in ways we only dreamed of a few years ago. Because of this my interests have shifted since my time at Sheridan, so I came to the MDM program with hopes to expand my skill set in the context of media production and immersive storytelling. However my time in the MDM program has changed my path and my perspective on what projects I want to be taking on and what it really means to create an immersive experience. Thanks to MDM I have discovered a new passion for using immersive technology as an educational tool in soft skills training, which will be the basis for my major research project.
