Biography:
Teodor first began his career as an automotive technician. During the ten years he spent in this field he received the prestigious 5-Year Consecutive Saab Grand Master Award. Distinguished for being the only Canadian master technician to work with the prestigious SAAB Racing team, Teo continued to work in the dealership environment until the brand was discontinued.
Intrigued by art and design, he then changed direction and devoted himself to studying design at OCAD University (Ontario College of Art & Design), supplementing this by participating in an exchange program at the University of the Arts Berlin (UdK) in Germany. His lifelong hobbies of sketching, painting, and photography acted as invaluable springboards to this challenging and rewarding career path. His approach to design is based on understanding the social context upon which communication takes place. Teo utilizes design as an exploratory vehicle to investigate aesthetics in a philosophical manner to arrive at solutions that communicate on a simple semantic level.
For the last 5-years Teo has worked as a designer at Entro Communications exploring all aspects of environmental design, and assuming the roles of project coordinator and project manager. During his time at Entro, he has had the opportunity to work with many diverse organizations, including Moriyama Nikkei Heritage Center, FIFA, McMaster University, RBC, Canada Post, OCAD University, Urban Land Institute, Calgary Airport, and ATCO. Teodor’s experience as an environmental designer encompasses the development of wayfinding and signage systems for the built environment that help to connect people to place. This includes working closely with corporations, hospitals, airports, and mass transportation projects such as Ottawa’s OC Transpo transit system unification, and most recently with Metrolinx on the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
