Biography:
Sam is always seeking opportunities to combine his creative side with innovative projects. The New Media program at Ryerson exposed him to a multitude of media related technologies. After winning the inaugural Ryerson Residence Innovation challenge, and subsequently pitching to Sheldon Levy and Valerie Fox, within his first year at Ryerson, he made new goals to harness his learning from the New Media program and apply them to entrepreneurial pursuits.
Sam has been engaged with entrepreneurship since his early days at Ryerson, where he placed as a first round finalist in Toronto's Digifest of 2014. Sam's most notable achievement was being accepted into and completing the Summer Company program with his own startup, Plaid Shorts. His continued success as an entrepreneur has lead to winning Ryerson's Delvinia Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award in November 2016.
Sam has more recently begun to pursue web development projects and applications to merge the creative and endless potential of digital media with the innovative approach of entrepreneurship. He aspires to develop interactive platforms that enhance learning experiences within and beyond the classroom, beginning with the topic of art history. He is hoping it can one day expand to additional fields of research and education.
Why Digital Media?
What defines an experience today is sometimes blurred between digital and reality. Sam is interested in exploring the potential of leveraging digital media and how it results in enhanced experiences both online and offline. He would like to develop ideas and concepts that can extend experiences beyond the digital media sphere and into the tangible. Also, Am.
