Biography:
Anastasiia, or Ana as she is known to her friends, has taken one of the more unique paths to MDM 2016-17. One of the few international students in this year’s cohort, Ana has a global portfolio in management, art and design, one that most notably includes an international PR agency in her native Ukraine, as well as the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution in her loved “second home” of Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
While working closely with creative teams and art directors, Ana experienced firsthand the impact of digital media and visual design on business and non-profit organizations. Now, her goal is to take her abilities to the next level. With her arrival in Toronto, Canada, Ana is well on her way in completing said goal via obtaining her Masters of Digital Media at Toronto Metropolitan University.
Why Digital Media?
The influence of digital media and its relevant technologies have become universal—not just on the level of a business, but across the entire globe. Ana’s experience is one indication of that influence.
Thus, with new technologies constantly being introduced, Ana sees the need for adaption and development of new skills. These skills are needed not only to support digital media and its technology-based environment, but also to conduct business in any field, all around the world.
That’s why Ana finds the MDM program and its “big picture” approach relevant and with perspective. She looks forward to learning how the evolution of digital media has affected visual communication, interactive design, artistic practices, and design-related businesses.
