Biography:

Ryan was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario and graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Art in Communications Studies. With a keen interest in many things Digital Media, Ryan experimented with coding and design software as he was growing up, giving him a unique skill set that he finds he now often uses. As the Program Coordinator at McMaster University for their "That's a Great Idea" Program (TGI), a suggestion program that welcomed ideas on enhancing the University, he was also able to utilize his media skills in creating various print and promotional material that focused on marketing the TGI brand across the University and the surrounding community.

In his spare time, Ryan is building up his multilingual side, with an established fluency in Filipino (Tagalog). He is currently studying Mandarin (中文）and Korean（한국어) in order to pursue a career in Brand Communications and Management on a more international level.

Why Digital Media?

I became quite fascinated with how companies and organizations portray themselves - everything, from font style, size and colour to the positioning of their brand in various print and promotional material, plays an integral role in how an organization represents themselves, and in turn, how their audiences see and recognize them.

In today's increasingly mobile world, Digital and Social Media are not only two of the most inexpensive avenues to market and present your organization, but are also some of the most effective ways to build up your brand. Toronto Metropolitan University's MDM program offers a unique, interdisciplinary approach to global Digital Media that will enhance my current background and skill set while offering me a more in-depth understanding of digital design and digital media development.
