Biography
Maayan Ziv studied Radio and Television at Toronto Metropolitan University and her background in media communications, art and theatre influences her work. Born with Muscular Dystrophy, Maayan is a self-taught photographer whose work focuses on emotive portraiture, editorial fashion, and gritty street scenes. Maayan has recently been performing at SoulPepper Theatre, acting in a new play by Judith Thompson, "Borne"
Maayan has been recognized with a Queens Diamond Jubilee medal for her contribution to raising awareness for disabilities within the arts.
Why Digital Media?
Maayan loves to come up with new ways to do things. She has been inventing strategies and re-purposing equipment in non-traditional ways from an early age so that she can enjoy a more accessible and unlimited lifestyle. Furthering her education in Digital Media feeds her goal to create new technologies and ideas that can benefit and improve the lives of people living with disabilities.

Major Research Project: "AccessNow"
A mobile app that uses crowdsourcing to pinpoint accessibility information of public and private spaces on an interactive map.
