As our first year draws to a close, we invite you to celebrate the historic year we’ve had at Ryerson Law.

After launching the first law school in Toronto in over a century, we are now shaping a new kind of lawyer: one that challenges the status quo, embraces diversity and inclusion, bridges the gap between law and technology, and expands the reach of justice for all. We are shaping the trailblazers of tomorrow.

We are also announcing another cause for celebration: we are renaming our law school in honour of a trailblazer who forged the path for us — and for our students.

The Honourable Lincoln Alexander was a trailblazer who set precedent as the first Black person to be elected to Canada’s House of Commons, to serve as a federal Cabinet Minister, and to be appointed Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

He was a trailblazer who advocated for equity, diversity and inclusion as a partner in the first interracial law firm in Canada and as the first chair of the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.

He was a trailblazer who exemplified the very same values that underpin our law school.

Please join us on May 6th to celebrate the official renaming of our Faculty as the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Ryerson University.
