We asked nine Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) student-run publications to send in their best written or digital work from the winter 2025 semester.
From hard hitting political pieces to witty satire and more — our students have been collecting bylines after bylines.
Review of Journalism
The Review of Journalism (external link) (RJ) is Canada’s original voice on media criticism. Their mission is to cast a discerning eye on the industry by questioning its faults and celebrating its successes.
The magazine, its website and podcast are produced by graduate and undergraduate students in their final year, with the support of faculty and industry professionals.

On The Record
On The Record (external link) (OTR) is TMU j-school’s online newsroom, run by final-year undergraduate and graduate students.
The OTR team was a big part of TMU Votes (external link) , a live broadcast covering the Ontario provincial election on Feb. 27. The broadcast featured over 60 students and staff from The Creative School.

The Otter (external link) is a collective of journalists made up of students, professors, and alumni. They publish long-form narrative journalism on a wide range of topics.
