From lunch and games, to movie nights, tours of the RCC and press scavenger hunts, the Journalism Course Union has an exciting slate of events for J-Frosh, a two-day set of orientation events designed for incoming journalism students.

The events will take place on August 27 and  28 and will help new students get acquainted with each other, the spaces, and the opportunities available to journalism students.

“We’re hoping to make sure that by the first week of classes, new students feel equipped to navigate the environment and can go in focusing on learning,” said JCU’s co-president, Hailey Ford.

J-Frosh promises the chance to build lifelong connections with fellow journalism students.

“Often, the friends you make at O-Week, you stick with, so we want to make sure they have plenty of chances to socialize!” Ford said.

The JCU has a packed schedule (external link)  for J-Frosh, which can be found on their Instagram (@TorontoMetJCU (external link) ).

Among the most useful is the ‘Discover the RCC’ tour on August 27 and the ‘The Press Preview’ on August 28 which will introduce students to campus publications and writing opportunities.

Journalism students – from first year to fourth – are encouraged to partake in J-Frosh.

“Students should come to these events to meet their peers, get familiar with campus, and have fun… Don’t be afraid of starting something new, be ready to take advantage of everything it offers,” Ford said.
