
Jill Dempsey
Jill Dempsey is a veteran CBC Radio personality having been with the network for more than 25 years. She brings that wealth of experience to her role as host of Olympic Games Report during the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 as she played a similar role for CBC Radio during Salt Lake City 2002, Beijing 2008 and Rio 2016.
Dempsey's voice is familiar to listeners of Metro Morning, where she's served as a newsreader since 1991. Her career in broadcasting began at City in Toronto working behind the scenes as a writer and producer. She came to CBC in June 1989, anchoring Calgary's late night news.
After two months she was tapped as a backup host for Newsworld, a relationship she maintained for six years after she returned to Toronto. After two years with Metro Morning, Dempsey took over the daytime newscasts. Besides reading and writing the news, she has filled in on Fresh Air, Radio Noon and Here and Now. She was seconded to the position of co-host on The World at Six with Barbara Smith from the fall of 2002 to the spring of 2003.
She has a B.A. in Political Science from York University. For several years, she has also been an instructor in the Journalism and Radio and Television Arts programs at Toronto Metropolitan University. She also teaches in the Journalism Program at at Centennial College. Jill works as a trainer, teaching hosts and newsreaders in both Radio and Television at CBC
