An overview of Prestigious Entrance Awards

Hey there, future Toronto Metropolitan University students! I get it – you may be worried about financing your post-secondary studies, the stress can even feel never-ending. But guess what? Prestigious Entrance Awards might just be the golden ticket you’re looking for!  

Let me walk you through your Prestigious Entrance Award options. First, you should know that scholarships can be renewable or non-renewable.  

Renewable scholarships: an award that you can receive for multiple years, provided you meet the criteria. 

Non-renewable scholarships: a one-time award.

The President’s Entrance Scholarship

The President's Entrance Scholarship offers a distinguished opportunity for academic recognition. Beyond a focus on grades, this scholarship emphasizes academic prowess, leadership qualities, and creativity. 

There are a total of twelve recipients with an annual $10,000 CAD reward that is renewable. Along with the reward, recipients also receive a reserved spot (costs not included) in residence – a single bedroom with a shared hallway washroom at Pitman Hall or a single bedroom with a private washroom at the International Living/Learning Centre.

Here’s what you need to submit for the President's Entrance Scholarship. 

  1. A polished essay or project summary (up to 500 words) reflecting your creativity. 
  2. Two reference letters – one academic, validating scholastic aptitude, and the other focusing on leadership and creative endeavors. 
  3. Comprehensive documentation of your leadership activities during your final two years of high school
  4. A minimum grade of 90% in the final admission average. 

The International Student Leadership Award (ISLA) 

Formerly known as the International Secondary School Merit Scholarship (ISSMS), ISLA stands as a testament to academic excellence, commitment to volunteerism, and exemplary leadership skills. There are up to seven awards, valued at $5,000 CAD each. The awards are entrance-only and non-renewable. International students entering their first year of full-time undergraduate studies.

Here’s what you need to submit for the ISLA.

  1. Minimum 85% admission average or an A-grade equivalent.
  2. A well articulated personal statement.
