Dan Martin, Second-Year Student from F+PPCM, Featured in The New York Times

February 14, 2025

Dan Martin, a second-year film preservation student of the Film and Photography Preservation and Collections Management graduate program at Image Arts, made a remarkable discovery during his internship at Historic Films Archive, a stock-footage library on Long Island. While sorting through old film cans, Dan discovered "The Heart of Lincoln" (1922), a long-lost silent film directed by Francis Ford. We couldn’t be prouder of his remarkable achievement, which was highlighted in a recent New York Times article as well as the Smithsonian Magazine. Currently, Martin is completing his placement at the Library of Congress in Virginia and working on his thesis, exploring this incredible discovery under the supervision of instructor Justin Morris.
