Sustainable Development Goals and Policy Implementation

A tree growing out of a barren rock

About the Project

SDGs serve as the blueprint to achieve a better, more sustainable future for everyone and address global challenges, including inequality, environmental degradation, climate, peace and justice. In Canada’s 2019 budget, tourism was declared as the seventh economic strategy for the Canadian economy. This new focus on tourism as an economic strategy is due to the industry’s potential for positive job creation, economic development, inclusiveness and diversity, including recognition of Indigenous products and services. Tourism as a case study, therefore, provides a strong argument for examining policy integration of the SDGs.
