Case Study: Volvo Powertrain Project: Engine Assembly

This cooperative study with Volvo Powertrain's engine assembly facility in Skövde, Sweden covered two aspects of the HFE Lab's research agenda. First, we were able to study the human well-being and system performance consequences of a change in production strategy from parallelized cellular manufacturing to conventional serial line flow. Second, we worked with Powertrain personnel in their efforts to improve the company's ability to manage human factors in their design and production processes.
