Case Study: General Motors: Ontario Universities Back Pain Study

Officially called the 'Ontario Universities Back Pain Study', this project was conducted at General Motors of Canada's Oshawa production facility (one of the world's largest, with two car plants and one truck plant) and funded by the Institute for Work & Health.
The study examined the strength of association between work-place risk factors and operators' reports of low back pain. It was one of the largest studies of its kind, showing that psychosocial, psychophysical, and physical work-load factors all contribute independently to low back pain reports amongst auto workers.
