Corporate Social Responsibility Reporting and the Work Environment

Pencil and notepad

Work Environment aspects are rarely highlighted in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) research.  The HFE lab has engaged in three sub-projects that examine the disclosure of work environment (WE) information in CSR reporting.  The first of these projects examines the qualitative content of WE information in CSR reports from a sample of 50 companies. The second project examines the quantitative indicators of WE that companies use in their CSR reports. This project compares reports from companies defined as “leaders” in CSR to reports from a randomly selected group of companies from the Toronto Stock Exchange. The third project uses data from interviews with CSR managers from large Canadian firms to examine managers’ perspectives concerning the disclosure of WE information in CSR reporting.
