Tarah Burke is a doctoral student in the joint program in Communication and Culture, exploring the intersection of fashion, craft, and cultural heritage. Her research investigates the preservation of artisanal making and intangible cultural heritage, the scalability of hybrid handwork and technology, and the connection between consumer value perception and ethical fashion practices. Additionally, she examines the role of sustainable design and retail strategies in creating viable business models and the use of fashion history as an experiential learning tool. Burke has published and presented her work at various international conferences and has extensive experience in costume curation and historical consulting.
