Azadeh Monzavi is a Ph.D. student and an interdisciplinary maker/researcher in Communication and Culture at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her master’s thesis entitled Gender, Fashion, and Representation in Nineteenth-Century British Art, presents a discursive investigation of gender dynamics and female agency in nineteenth-century British painting. Her doctoral research investigates the intergenerational and transnational bonds between women, mediated through objects of personal significance and aesthetic expressions such as literature, art, craft, and personal items. With a background in art history, her research examines intersectionality, textiles, fashion, visuality, and materiality, within the broader feminist framework of cultural studies and communication.
