Laura R. Fisher
Laura R. Fisher is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her research explores intersections between American literature, social reform, and cultural history, with a particular focus on the literary and political movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Fisher's book, Reading for Reform: The Social Work of American Literature (2019), examines the role of literature in social advocacy and reform movements. She has published widely on topics such as white slavery fiction, literary aesthetics, immigrant narratives, and the role of settlement houses as literary institutions. Her current projects include exploring literary institutions in the United States around 1900 and investigating the relationship between literature and social justice movements today.
