Dr. Shana Almeida is an Assistant Professor in the School of Professional Communication at Toronto Metropolitan University, specializing in politics and race. Her research and teaching contributions are informed by over six years as senior political staff in the municipal government of Toronto. Dr. Almeida's research broadly examines how race and racial thinking continue to manifest in and across multiple contexts, including government and academia. Her research has wide-reaching implications for and impacts on the study and practice of antiracism in politics and policymaking in particular. Dr. Almeida has been invited to share her work globally, including in Toronto, Montreal, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, and Grahamstown, South Africa.
