The Communication and Culture Graduate Students Association (GSA) invites you to the 2024 Intersections | Cross-sections conference, an online interdisciplinary gathering of graduate scholars, artists, and activists. This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Since its inception in 2002, this conference has been a dynamic platform for graduate students worldwide to present their research, engage in thought-provoking panels, and participate in interactive workshops. Our conference thrives on the intersections of art, activism, and academia, fostering a space where innovative ideas flourish.
This year’s theme, “Terms & Conditions: Rethinking Digital Literacy Futures,” challenges us to critically examine the evolving digital ecosystems that shape our lives. As digital literacy expands beyond its foundational concepts, we must reconsider how we navigate, understand, and influence the digital world.
Topics for discussion will include:
- Redefining Digital Awareness and Critical Thinking in an AI Age
- The Urgency of Digital Fluency and Data Awareness Models
- Political Economy of Digital Literacy: Who's at Stake?
- The Future of Social Media Landscapes, Datafication, and the Next Digital Leap
- Digital Empowerment and Resistance
- Recrafting Digital Identities: Digital Citizenships vs. the Individual
- AI: Future Virtual Spaces and Digital Identities amidst Hypercomplexity
Mark your calendar and prepare to engage with thought leaders and peers as we explore the terms and conditions of our digital futures.
