Areas of ExpertiseIn Dr Adler's lab, we design B-sheets peptidomimetics to be widely utilized in covalently targeting protein-protein interactions and achieve potential therapeutic outcome, cell penetration, or immuno-signaling. Virtual screening of a library of B-sheets peptidomimetics via molecular modeling to study the β-turn propensity of different scaffolds using comprehensive conformational search study. Synthesis and characterization of different peptidomimetics targeting Alzheimer's disease. Design and synthesis of peptide libraries utilizing solid phase peptide synthesis strategy, subsequent biological screening against different proteins, and hits identification by partial Edman degradation.

I work as a postdoc in Prof. Marc Adler's group since July 2021. My PhD work was about design and synthesis of bicyclic peptide libraries which was achieved in Ohio State University, USA. Afterwards, I defended my thesis in my home university, Helwan University, Egypt. During my PhD, I gained cell culture skills which enabled me to perform the required cell-based assays to test different peptides for cellular delivery or anticancer activity. Additionally, I gained experience in the biochemistry field which enables me to express, purify, and label the required proteins to perform different binding assays or to test the inhibition of protein-protein interaction. All that qualified me to wrap up my thesis projects starting from the design and synthesis of peptidomimetics and ending up with biological evaluation and optimization of the activity.
