Dr. Randy Tan
Randy received his Bachelor’s degree from Toronto Metropolitan University in Electrical and computer engineering where he continued his studies Through his MASc. and PhD. His research interest include Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Computer Vision (CV), and Human Computer Interfaces (HCI). His master’s thesis proposed a system for automated coaching for physical activities using a dual-Microsoft Kinect system. His PhD thesis proposed a system for XAI by training networks in such a way that the hidden layer neurons clustered themselves by correlation. His current research focus is on the “hallucination” problem with large language models where they sometimes output false information in a convincing tone.
