Creativity is both my vocation and avocation. I constantly summoned it in my previous career as a newspaper, book, and magazine writer and editor in chief. I also engage it daily in my ongoing creative practices in printmaking and fibre arts.

Indeed, all my experiences with creativity inform my academic path. I earned a master's degree in creativity studies from the State University of New York--Buffalo State. My doctoral project at the University of Westminster in London explored the relationship between agency, action, and creative identity in the lives of amateur makers in the UK and North America.

Now as a postdoctoral fellow in the Creativity Everything lab at Toronto Metropolitan University, I research and write about the social, cultural, and individual meanings of pursuing a creative life.
