Dr. Amarens Matthiesen completed her doctoral studies in Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 2022. Her research focuses on children's rights to participation in healthcare decision-making in children's hospitals across the Netherlands. Currently, Dr. Matthiesen's focus is on integrating a child-rights lens into the delivery of early childhood education and care, and pediatric healthcare settings from the perspective of multidisciplinary service providers. Her work also includes active engagement with creative knowledge dissemination strategies to mobilize research findings for children, families, and service providers. Her goal is to inform efforts to optimize how children and families can be meaningful involved in the delivery of health, education, and community-based services.
