Amanda Shankland
Dr. Amanda Shankland is a writer and educator specializing in water policy, agroecology, and food politics. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from Carleton University and a master’s in public policy from Toronto Metropolitan University. Shankland is a well-published author with numerous journal publications and a book. Her book, based on her Ph.D. work, “Cultivating Community: How discourse shapes the philosophy, practice and policy of water management in the Murray–Darling Basin,” explores the politics of water management in Australian agriculture. She is also an editor for the Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Journal and an active member of the Canadian Association of Food Studies. As an Adjunct Professor, Dr. Shankland has taught several courses at Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. Currently, she is a post-doctoral research fellow, working alongside Dr. Carolyn Johns at the Global Center for Understanding Climate Change Impacts on Transboundary Waters.
