This year our GRADSkills series of interactive workshops will focus on navigating specific challenges with focus and strength, including giving and receiving feedback.

Providing feedback to others and being able to listen to and implement feedback effectively are arguably some of the most important skills that graduate students develop over the course of their studies. Feedback is also integral to effective advocacy, managing and resolving various forms of conflict, and having difficult discussions.

In this workshop, you will learn how people share and experience feedback differently and explore your reactions to feedback. In addition, you will have an opportunity to explore effective feedback strategies through a series of interactive cases.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Reflect on their personal communication style in feedback situations;
  • Identify and apply effective feedback strategies;
  • Navigate difficult feedback conversations with supervisors and others in positions of power.
