Use annotation to enhance your collaboration in Google Meet

June 07, 2024

Google Meet has rolled out a new annotation (external link, opens in new window)  feature aimed at enhancing virtual collaboration. This addition allows users to draw, highlight, and add text directly onto shared screens during meetings, offering a more interactive and engaging experience.

The annotation tool is designed to facilitate real-time collaboration, making it easier for teams to brainstorm, give feedback, and illustrate points clearly. Users can now mark up documents, presentations, and other shared content without needing to switch to third-party applications.

To use the annotation feature, participants can simply select the "Annotate" option from the toolbar during a screen share. This opens a set of tools, including a pen, highlighter, and text box, as well as options to choose different colors and line thicknesses. All annotations are visible to everyone in the meeting, ensuring that discussions remain clear and focused.

Google Meet's annotation feature is now available to all users with a Google Workspace account.
