Ryerson Gmail is Getting Comprehensive Mail Storage

Beginning April 17th, Gmail is changing the way it handles email notifications that are sent through core apps in G Suite. All emails sent with core apps in G Suite will now appear in your Gmail's Sent folder. For example, these notifications will now appear in your Sent folder:

  • Calendar—outgoing invitations and messages sent with the Email guests option in desktop Calendar.
  • Drive—message content sent when users share, transfer ownership, or comment on files in Drive.
  • Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings—messages sent by the app when users email files as attachments, change approvals on files, or make comments or suggestions on files.
  • Forms—email messages containing forms or links to forms.
  • Keep—email messages sent when users share notes in Keep.

For users that are using managed departmental folders (opens in new window) , you may notice that transfer of ownership notifications emails are now appearing in your Sent folder. This is because the tool transfers ownership of files and folders that are placed in the shared folder to an ownership account nightly.
