Reg began instructing in the Certificate Program in 2004 becoming Academic Coordinator in 2007. From 2005 until 2015, Reg was visiting professor in food security to the UN University for Peace, Costa Rica. From 2011-2013, he was visiting speaker on global food security for the UNESCO Institute of Comparative Human Rights, University of Connecticut; and in 2016 was visiting professor in food security to the University of Atacama, Chile.
Reg is a consultant on community development, sustainable livelihoods, and food security has worked for international agencies e.g. UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), UNESCO, UNDP and the World Bank; the Danish International Development Agency, Germany’s GTZ, the Norwegian International Development agency (NORAD) and UK’s Department for International Development (DFID); also for national governments (Malawi and Uganda). He has also worked for international NGOs such as OXFAM Canada.
Experience in food security and community development stems from working in Malawi for almost 17 years with poor rural communities. He has worked in several other sub-Saharan nations; also in South Asia and South-East Asia with smallholder farming communities. He holds a PhD in biology, (with emphasis on ecology and natural resource management) University of London, UK.
