Social Innovation
At the Faculty of Community Services (FCS), social innovation is an effort to create sustainable systemic change to achieve social justice, inclusion and equity for marginalized populations.
Social innovators at FCS seek novel and transformative solutions to social problems. They strive to change conditions in partnership with those living in disadvantaged circumstances. They study the systems we work within and the nature of change itself.
Social innovation is integral to the research, teaching and learning at the faculty. Our change orientation is rooted in a curriculum that prepares students to become the changemakers of tomorrow.
Engage in the field of social innovation. See yourself as a changemaker and leader.
The Teri Project matches students in FCS with residents of long-term care homes to facilitate intergenerational friendships based on mutual respect, empathy and care.
