Raktim Mitra is an associate professor in the  School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP). As the associate director of SURP’s undergraduate programs, he has an impressive track record of academic leadership within Toronto Metropolitan University, specifically in the areas of academic integrity, student support, and equity, diversity and inclusion. 

Mitra is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of transportation planning and healthy communities. He is the co-director of TransForm Research Laboratory, where his collaborative work with government agencies and community-based organizations have informed the creation of more inclusive policy and the advancement of advocacy around active and healthy communities. 

Mitra is currently providing leadership with the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and Canadian Planning and Policy Journal. He also sits on the national leadership group at Outdoor Play Canada.
