The Ryerson Community Services Society (RCSS) is a steering committee of students formed to ensure that the experience of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Community Services (FCS) reflects the interdisciplinary and communal nature of their work.

The Goal of RCSS is to support a sense of community and belonging to the students across FCS.

RCSS is here to support and enhance the student experience by creating a platform for cross-program collaboration, opportunities for social innovation, and are guided by the needs of FCS students.

The members of RCSS are eager to connect with students, and you can reach them at RCSS@torontomu.ca.

This year the RCSS includes nine amazing student volunteers - here is a little bit about them:

I’ve been able to connect with students about the importance of mental health and methods of self-care.

What do you wish students would connect with you about but don’t?

I want to aid my fellow peers to prioritize their mental health by spreading resources and information on ways in which they can take care of themselves to thrive through the school year.

What do students connect with you about most often?

Students often connect with me about their academic concerns or questions regarding their courses. Students often connect with me to acquire advice or address any confusion on their assignments or different assessments.

What do you wish students would connect with you about but don’t?

I wish students would connect with me about any struggles they might be facing socially. This could include connecting with their peers, making friends, or getting into many different groups at Ryerson University to feel they belong and to have a more inclusive atmosphere since Ryerson University has so many clubs. These organizations welcome so many students from different religions and cultures.

This summer, I worked in a new community center to better adapt, educate, and develop skills among children. Working during the pandemic had its challenges, but surrounding myself with fresh ideas and creative youth was well worth it. I was glad to have contributed to positive change within the community
