Investing in urban policy research and aspiring foodservice professionals

Several organizations have made generous commitments to support the Centre for Urban Research and Land Development (CUR). CUR is a multi-disciplinary research centre which brings economic insight and real estate market understanding to urban policy discussions within the greater Golden Horseshoe; raises awareness of the regional scope of many urban issues; and educates students and urban policy-makers on the importance of economic and market understanding.
- O’Shanter Development Company has made a commitment of $100,000
- Tridel Corporation has renewed their support with a commitment of $100,000
The Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals (CAFP) has created the CAFP Award of Excellence to support full-time undergraduate students in the Nutrition and Food program showing a strong commitment to the foodservice industry. The association supported its membership in the food services industry for over 100 years, providing networking and learning opportunities. CAFP also provided student members with mentorship and employment opportunities and bursaries through its national program.
In 2019 the National Board dissolved the association and with a portion of the remaining funds established an award at Ryerson, the home of an active student branch of CAFP. This award celebrates the association’s purpose and continues its legacy of commitment to students and industry.
