Adorning America: The History and Legacy of the Schreiner Jewelry Company

Adorning America: The History and Legacy of the Schreiner Jewelry Company offers a glittering display of jewels by one of North America’s foremost designers of high-end costume jewelry. Created in New York City by founder Henry Schreiner in 1932, the eponymous brand flourished during the early 1940s, mirroring the success of the high-end ready-to-wear designers. During the 1950s, under the leadership of Henry’s daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Ambros Albert, the company achieved wide-spread success. Their jewelry was sold across the country, in the best-known stores and featured on the covers and in the editorials of the most coveted fashion magazines. Celebrated for using unusual color combinations, inventive hand-made settings, architectural constructions, and custom-made stones, the Schreiner Jewelry Company leaves behind a rich legacy – one that is enjoyed by jewelry collectors and admirers across North America and much of the globe.

Co-curated by Eve Townsend and Ariana Bishop.

Displayed at New York Jewelry Week from November 17-19, 2023.
