Policy 159: A Shared Responsibility - Online Training for Faculty & Contract Lecturers
To: TFA Faculty and Contract Lecturers
Dear Colleagues,
In response to faculty and contract lecturer requests for training and support in understanding and applying the latest version of Senate Policy 159: Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities, Academic Accommodation Support (AAS), in collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), has designed comprehensive four-module, interactive training available starting July 7 via D2L to all faculty and contract lecturers.
The voluntary modules, "Policy 159: A Shared Responsibility - Faculty and Instructor Training" provide an engaging opportunity to learn about the Policy, its associated procedures, and the barriers to access that students with disabilities face. The modules also offer practical tools for fostering an inclusive educational environment. Faculty and contract lecturers who choose to complete the modules will gain a comprehensive understanding of all stakeholder responsibilities under Policy 159 as well as a sense of when and how to collaborate with students, AAS, and CELT.
Faculty and contract lecturers who complete this voluntary training will receive a certificate of completion. Those interested in engaging with the modules can, after July 7, login to my.torontomu and navigate to “your courses in D2L Brightspace”.
Sincerely,
Jen McMillen, Vice-Provost, Students
Sean Kheraj, Vice-Provost, Academic
