Faculty/Course Survey (FCS) for Faculty Members in Fall 2022

Dear Faculty Members,

This is to confirm that for the Fall 2022 term the Faculty Association and the University have agreed that the following process related to the Faculty/Course Survey (FCS) will be implemented.

• For all tenure-stream (probationary and tenured) and Limited Term Faculty, the FCS will continue to be administered online.
• For the Fall 2022 term, on a without prejudice and precedent basis, the FCS will include only the following five course operations questions that speak to the student educational experience:

1. I received feedback on my work prior to the drop date.
2. The course handouts/postings contain all the information I need about the organization of this course.
3. Students are treated fairly.
4. The class meets as scheduled and on time.
5. The instructor is available for consultation as specified on the course handouts/postings.

• The other nine questions on the FCS have been removed.
• Information collected through the FCS for Fall 2022 will be available to individual faculty members through the FCS portal for formative purposes and shall not be included in faculty annual reports.
• Faculty members may choose to include Winter 2022 and Fall 2022 FCS results in their teaching dossier for the purpose of tenure and promotion but in no case shall be required to submit FCS results arising out of courses taught during this transitional period. No negative inference will be drawn as a result of their absence.

The Faculty Association and the OVPFA are working collaboratively on a new enhanced process for FCS that we hope to launch in Winter 2023.
