TMU's Virtual Health and Safety Bulletin Board

TMU’s Environmental Health and Safety has launched a Virtual Health and Safety Bulletin Board as an initiative to provide easy access to a number of key health and safety resources.
With TMU’s many buildings as well as the transition to a hybrid model of work, the digital notice board provides links to online versions of documents and downloadable copies of resources that are posted in our on-campus health and safety notice boards. This important health and safety information is now available at your fingertips — by computer or mobile device — from any location at any time.
Building a culture of health and safety excellence
Traditionally, workplace notice boards have been the primary means to distribute this wide array of information sheets, university policy and procedure documents, employment standards and the Ontario Health and Safety Act.
These resources play an important role in supporting the safe, healthy and responsible administration of TMUs operations as well as all scholarly, research and creative (SRC) activities.
- outlines employees' rights and employers' responsibilities under provincial employment standards,
- promotes awareness of occupational health and safety requirements,
- identifies the roles and responsibilities of the university, supervisors, workers and contractors to prevent injury and illness in the workplace,
- specifies the processes for what to do in case of injury or illness at work and identifies local Departmental Safety Officers (DSOs), fire wardens, first aiders and Joint Health and Safety Committee members,
- provides links to key university policies for the TMU workplace.
All employees, contractors and university representatives can easily review the notice-board content online and departments can download and print copies of any updated posters, safety tip sheets and other materials they need for their own local bulletin boards.
Health and safety is a shared responsibility and the Virtual Health and Safety Bulletin Board is a new tool to help us build and maintain our culture of safe, healthy and environmentally responsible teaching, research and operations.
