Transitions: Gender Identity (#216)
This simulation was developed with a grant from the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Fund (LTEF) and support from the Learning and Teaching Office, Toronto Metropolitan University.
This simulation addresses Gender Identity and its impact on different individuals and their relationships. It is flexible and applicable in a variety of contexts due to the depth of the characters and their robust back-stories. Depending on the needs of the learning environment, the simulation could be booked with the four family members attending a meeting or they could attend individually or in pairs. Due to its malleable nature, the simulation can be used in a variety of courses and contexts for a wide range of students and professionals including: Human Resources, Social Workers, Nurses, Counsellors or others.

Information for Learners
This simulation offers a variety of scenarios based on discipline and facilitators provide learners with the appropriate context before beginning. In all scenarios Frank Patton’s transition to Judith Patton impacts the people and environment she inhabits. Learners must effectively use their interpersonal skills to fully understand these impacts and help the characters accept and understand Judith, themselves and their biases.
