The Power of Observation - Eye Witness Events (#1007)
These simulations were developed in collaboration with Ann McNeilly, Lisa Taylor and Jan Wong from the School of Journalism, Toronto Metropolitan University.
This series of simulations, which was originally developed to focus Journalism student’s power of observation, can be adapted for many faculties and learning situations. The simulation occurs when a simulator interrupts an instructor delivering their lecture. The ensuing “incident” provides learners the opportunity to observe a challenging interaction and, when complete, discuss and reflect on a variety of topics including but not limited to observation and perception versus intent, defusing challenging situations, negotiating for an outcome, the impact of language and word choices on people, and stress and its effect on mental health.
Please speak with a LAS trainer to see how this simulation may be adapted to suit your learning and classroom goals.
