Option 1
A teenager with a troubled family can’t keep her emotions in check. She needs someone to listen as she adjusts to life in Canada in a tumultuous household and to help her deal with her living situation.
Option 2
A teenager seems more withdrawn than normal and appears to struggle with their emotions. He needs someone to listen as he adjusts to life in Canada and the challenging situations he faces.

Information for Learners
Option 1
You are a Social Worker in a school setting. Andrea Sanchez, seventeen, is referred to you by her homeroom teacher, Mr Smith. She is new to the school and will not speak in class. She seems very isolated and lonely and on several occasions burst into tears in class.
Option 2
Andre’s math teacher, Mr. Jones, knows Andre is a very quiet student who rarely contributes to the class. Recently, Andre seems even more withdrawn as he has not made the slightest attempt to speak or participate. He seems very isolated, lonely and several times appeared on the verge of tears. Mr. Jones asked Andre to see the school’s child and youth counsellor and ensured an appointment was made. You are the school’s Child and Youth Care Worker assigned to meet with Andre.
Note: Both of these simulation option serve a variety of programs and the learner could take on the role of Early Childhood Educator, Nurse, Social worker, Child and Youth Care Worker, Psychologist etc.
