A young queer student has recently come out to their parents who are extremely upset and worried about this revelation. A school social worker must address the concerns of both the parents and the student.

Information for Learners
Option 1
Matthew has just told his parents he is queer and attracted to men. Matthew’s parents, Beth and Don are very concerned about him and have decided they need to see a counsellor to discuss their concerns.
Option 2
Linda has just told her parents that she is queer and has been dating a woman for four months. Her parents, Don and Beth decide they need to talk to a counsellor about their concerns.
