Women in executive leadership at TMU

On January 31, 2020, Dr. Denise O’Neil Green led a discussion with four women in senior executive positions on what leading means to them.

In 2018, women made up more than half of all staff at TMU, exceeding the total representation of women within the GTA. While these stats reveal how the needle is moving on gender equity in the workplace, we know that women still experience the "double-bind" of gendered expectations of leadership.

Handling the Glass Cliff - Women and leadership during uncertain times

On April 28, 2020, Dr. Denise O’Neil Green led a discussion with four women in leadership roles at TMU on the phenomenon of the glass cliff and leading in a pandemic.

Panellists discussed strategies and tools they are employing to lead during the COVID-19 pandemic and share insights into the pressures they face as women when the stakes are high. They also discussed the glass cliff, a phenomenon in which women are more likely to be appointed to precarious leadership roles in times of crisis or economic downturn whereas their male counterparts are appointed to stable and high-performing organizations.
