Much like our celebration in 2020, Positive Space has organized a virtual Day of Pink on April 14, 2021.

Join us on a Zoom video call in your pink attire on April 14. At 12:15 p.m., we will take screenshots of everyone’s video feed in gallery view.

Guest speakers will address:

  • how bullying is rooted in systemic oppression
  • how to identify and respond to transphobic and homophobic microaggressions;
  • the mental health implications resulting from transphobic or homophobic bullying
  • best practices on how to check-in with your 2SLGBTQ+ loved ones and peers

About the Day of Pink

The second Wednesday of every April marks the International Day of Pink.

This annual event brings people together in solidarity against homophobic and transphobic bullying, and to celebrate equity, diversity and inclusion.

Day of Pink began in Nova Scotia when two high school students intervened after witnessing a gay student in their school being bullied for wearing pink.  Wanting to do more, they purchased pink shirts and distributed them through the school in solidarity against homophobic and transphobic bullying.

Each year, Ryerson community members come together in a pink shirt or clothing item to show their support.

This event is organized by Positive Space

Positive Space at Ryerson University is a volunteer-based network of faculty and staff for people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, committed to creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Learn more about Positive Space.
