Positive Space Faculty & Staff Network
Who we are
The Positive Space Faculty and Staff Network is a volunteer-based group comprised of employees of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, committed to creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
What we do
The Positive Space Faculty and Staff Network consults and collaborates with various campus groups, committees and other community networks to build collegiality and positive space. Our mandate centers equity and belonging at the university to ensure the inclusion of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals within the broader university community. Our volunteer members also organize events to celebrate, educate, and raise awareness during Pride Month in June, in Trans Awareness Month in November, and throughout the year.
Positive Space events
Positive Space collaborated with campus partners to organize a variety of events each year, including events for:
- Day of Pink (second Wednesday of every April)
- Pride (every June and Fall Term)
- Trans Awareness Month (every November)
Initiatives we have been involved in
Positive Space participates in working groups and committees across campus to advance inclusion of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Examples include:
- Gender transitioning support for employees. Please note, employees will need to be logged into AskHR to access this information.
- All gender washrooms and inclusive washroom signage
- Diversity Self-ID
