Research
Our faculty are at the forefront of research that is driving innovation and advancing knowledge that has relevance in the workplace and helps provide a better understanding of innovation and entrepreneurial activity.
While faculty pursue their individual research agendas, we also support the Entrepreneurship Research Institute and Ryerson Diversity Institute.
The Entrepreneurship Research Institute was founded in 2008 with a mandate to encourage and support research that improves our understanding of the fundamental questions of entrepreneurship:
- Why so few people are able to spot new business opportunities
- Why so few of those who spot opportunities are willing to take actions to exploit them
- Why so few of the exploitation efforts are successful
Membership is open to any researcher at Ryerson University who is interested in the phenomenon of entrepreneurship and how it contributes to social well-being and national development.

Led by our very own faculty researchers, the Diversity Institute conducts and coordinates multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder research to address the needs of diverse Canadians, the changing nature of skills and competencies, and the policies, processes and tools that advance economic inclusion and success. Our action-oriented, evidence-based approach is advancing knowledge of the complex barriers faced by underrepresented groups, leading practices to effect change, and producing concrete results.
