April 07, 2016
Tanya Tan, a student in the English MA in Literatures of Modernity (and Ryerson BA English alumna), has been named as a Top 25 Storyteller finalist in the 2016 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s (SSHRC) Storytellers Challenge. As SSHRC explains, the contest “challenges postsecondary students from across the country to demonstrate—in three minutes or 300 words—how SSHRC-funded research is making a difference in the lives of Canadians.” Tanya’s entry focuses on Dr. Colleen Derkatch’s research study “Rhetorics of Wellness: Discourse Mapping in an Illness-Oriented Culture.” The project explores the language of wellness.
